Is FedEx or UPS More Common in Germany?
UPS, for everyday parcels. Third-party market estimates put UPS at around 12–13% of German parcel volume, with DHL far ahead at roughly 40–50%, then Hermes, DPD and others. FedEx does not usually appear as a separate name in those volume lists and is more of an express and business carrier there. The estimates differ by source and date, so treat them as a rough picture. U.S. senders see this mostly through pickup and service point availability for returns, not through transit time.
What Is Different in Practice
- Rates. Published list prices for both are rarely what businesses pay. Small shippers can get better prices through shipping software or resellers, so compare those, not list rates.
- Service quality. We removed on-time percentages and customer service rankings from this page because we could not source them. Neither carrier publishes comparable lane-level figures.
- Tracking and tools. Both offer scan-level tracking, APIs and commercial tools. We make no claim that one is better.
