How Long Will My Package Take? Transit Times at a Glance

The estimator above combines two numbers: the carrier's transit time and the destination's typical customs clearance window. If you just want the ballpark before filling in the form, this is the same reference data the tool runs on โ€” total door-to-door business days from the U.S., customs included.

Business days, weekends and public holidays excluded. Ranges run best case to worst case. Brazil and India are slow because of customs, not distance.

Shipping into the U.S. rather than out of it? The transit leg is broadly symmetrical, but U.S. clearance is usually faster than the outbound country's export processing, so use the same range and check the sender's export scan in tracking. For the reasoning behind these numbers, see how long international shipping takes.

      Common Delivery-Time Questions

My tracking hasn't moved in days โ€” is it lost?

Usually not. Postal parcels often go dark after the export scan and stay silent until the destination country scans them in. Several days of no movement mid-ocean or mid-air is normal. Start worrying at roughly double the worst-case estimate above.

It says "held at customs" โ€” how long now?

Add the destination's clearance window on top of where you already are: hours to two days for Canada, Japan, and most of the EU; two to five days for the UK, Australia, and Mexico; five to fifteen days for India, Brazil, and China. If duty is owed, the clock only restarts once the recipient pays.

Does the ship date I enter mean today's date?

Enter the date the carrier actually takes possession, not the date you buy the label. A label bought Friday evening usually enters the network Monday, which pushes every estimate out by a full weekend.

Why does the same route vary so much?

Distance is rarely the variable โ€” customs is. A clean, accurately valued customs form under the destination's de minimis threshold clears in hours. A vague description or a value over the threshold triggers duty assessment and can add a week or more.
